My name is Kevin Chao. I am a seismologist working on research into slow earthquakes. As a data science scholar at Northwestern University, I am currently involved in a big data study of cross-disciplinary research subjects.
My research focuses on investigating tectonic faulting processes in active fault zones. I have conducted in-depth studies of tectonic tremor (i.e., one type of slow earthquake). Specifically, I am interested in the dynamic triggering of tremor, and understanding the interaction between ambient tremor and typical earthquakes.
